Game 1

Some year 7, 8 and 9’s played their first football match in a long-time last week against Orchid School. Although they lost 4- 1 Mr Bastable and myself could not have been prouder of each and every one of them. Every single player represented the school with respect, pride and good sportsmanship is what shone through the most. Every time a player got hurt every one of our team went and checked on them and offered a hand up to their feet and checked they were OK. When they were speaking about the game everyone was positive and talked about how they could improve as a team and what went well, patting each other on the back saying well done. This team is only going to improve and get better, but the foundations are there built on respect for each other and their opponent’s.

It was a good fair game, it was nice to represent the school and get out and play another school. I hope we get a lot more opportunities to do more of this. In my opinion, the man of the match was Charlie who was unbelievable for his first-ever football match.

 

Game two

Another fantastic performance from the years 7,8 and 9 today with everyone showing the same values as last week. The team is starting to gel which means they are playing a lot better football with better positional play and sharper passing between everyone. This resulted in an amazing 6-1 win over Portal House, we are creating a wonderful team for the future, and is great to hear more and more pupils wanting to be part of the team and represent Elms. The Buzz around the team, but also the school is infectious and great to be part of.

It was an amazing game and another fair game when one of their players got injured and could not continue we took off one of our players to make it 6 v 6 to keep it fair. I have to mention two players this week Albie for scoring an unbelievable five goals and Brianna for being involved in so much during the game the other team could not believe we had a girl playing and how good she was.
