Elms School

At Elms pupils will be taught French in upper KS2 and up to and including year 8. MFL is not taught at KS4.

The teaching of French will provide an appropriate balance of spoken and written language and it will enable pupils to understand and communicate ideas, facts and feelings in both speech and writing. This is supported through a range of teaching and learning resources.

We also celebrate many French traditions and promote a strong sense of intercultural understanding. One such celebration is the annual French tradition of ‘Mardi Gras.’ The pupils explored and created lots of yummy food, but also looked at the what people wear and the parades that take place around the world influenced by French culture.
