Working Hours30hrs per week, term time only (38 weeks per year), plus 15 twilight sessions from 3.15 – 5.15 on Tuesdays

Pro rata salary £12849 (for 30 hours term time)

SEN allowance £1221 (pro rata to 30 hours)

(Salary Full time £18425 plus SEN allowance full time £1,323)

Come and join the Elms team!  An opportunity has arisen to appoint a Teaching Assistant – the exact age group of pupils is yet to be decided.  The post offers an opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced TA to join our dedicated and highly effective staff team. 

The school prides itself on providing our pupils with much more than academic support within lessons and we are looking for people willing to commit to providing the very best all round education for these exceptional young people. 

The successful candidate will work supporting pupils with a range of behaviour and learning needs and will have a high level of emotional intelligence and resilience, a flexible approach to their work and an ability to embrace change. Elms is a challenging yet very rewarding place to work and we provide support and training for all our staff.

The school places a high priority on professional and career development.  All staff receive a full induction and support programme throughout the year to achieve their performance management targets.

Candidates need to possess a minimum of GCSE grade C/4 or above or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Mathematics (or equivalent).

Information about the school

Elms School is a special day school for children with social, emotional, mental health  and learning difficulties. Many of our pupils have ASD, ADHD or other difficulties such as attachment difficulties. The school has a mixed roll of 162 students between the ages of 6 and 16.

The school has been assessed as Good following the latest Ofsted inspection. At Elms we combine academic success with a therapeutic, nurturing approach in order to best support the learning and emotional needs of our pupils.
